History
Devine Brothers is a three-generation family-owned and operated business that has been in Norwalk since 1918.
In the early days, coal, hay and animal feed were the primary goods sold. In 1923 the family purchased the Ferris Coal Company and expanded their product lines to include building materials and lumber. By 1936 Devine Brothers had acquired The Bishop and Lynes Co. and moved its offices to its current location on 38 Commerce Street, further expanding its product lines to include Redi-mixed concrete. Today Devine Brothers has expanded the Redi-mix business with two new state-of-the-art, fully computerized batch plants, and expanded its building supply lines to include landscape supplies and
decorative stone.
In 1937 with the emergence of fuel oil, Devine Brothers increased the fuel oil storage capacity to include over 600,000 gallons of storage to complement the coal business. As time went by the coal clientele was slowly converted to fuel oil as a better, cleaner and more efficient heating energy.
Today, Devine Brothers is a national industry leader in the next great home heating energy called Bioheat. Bioheat is blended biodiesel which is a renewable energy produced from soybean oil. Biodiesel is non-toxic, biodegradable, and reduces the toxic emissions which contribute to global warming.
Devine Bioheat® provides homeowners with the best heating energy that money can buy while also reducing our dependence on foreign oil imports.
For over ninety-two years, Devine Brothers has had the pleasure of serving the building and the heating needs of Fairfield County.

Energy deregulation: An opportunity to save.
Signing up is as easy as saying yes. Well take care of all the details, and you'll start saving on your next full billing cycle. Plus, if you sign up today, we'll give you $50 cash back bonus rebate* on your first bill!
*Limit one per household/business
Current Rates:
Verde Energy USA: $0.0989/KWH
CL&P Residential: $0.1105/KWH Bus: $0.1172/KWH
UI Residential: $0.1157/KWH Bus: $0.1159/KWH
Connecticut is one of 15 states to deregulate its energy market. That means you have the opportunity to choose where you get your power. Before deregulation, your local power company (CL&P or UI) generated your power and carried it to your home or business.
But today, Connecticut consumers have choices on who supplies the electricity. When you choose Devine Bros. with Verde Energy USA, your utility company still carries the power to your home or business and services your account whenever you need. But you can now save nearly 2¢ per kilowatt hour.
Doesnt sound like much? Consider that many Connecticut homes use 2,000 kilowatt hours or more each month and many small businesses use five to ten times that amount or more, and that savings adds up pretty quickly!
Hundreds of reasons to switch today.
Lower rates. You can save 10 to 15% on the supply portion of your monthly electric bills. Plus you are eligible for a $50 cash back bonus rebate* after you switch to Verde Energy USA
Reliable Service. Your utility company still delivers the energy to your business on the same power grid youre using today. No change in response time or guaranteed services.
Simplicity. Youll still get the same bill you receive every
month from your utility company. The only difference is that the supplier charge will be a lot less. Even if you pay your bills online, there will be no change.
No risk. With Devine Bros./Verde Energy USA, theres no contract or long-term commitment. Thats the power of flexibility.
Your utility company (CL&P or UI) will still deliver the power to your business and service your account and standard delivery charges still apply. But by choosing an alternate
supplier, you save.
The best part: you get the same bill, and the same service. You just pay less. And by switching today, youll save $50 on your first bill!
